The Birth of Monday Night Football
In the 1970s, the NFL was taking over as America's favorite sport, and the creation of the Super Bowl solidified its lead. To capitalize on this, two executives came up with the idea of broadcasting one high-production game every Monday night, which would eliminate competition and draw a national audience.
