In learning design, it is crucial to sample the performance environment to understand its key features and incorporate them into training. Failing to do so can result in individuals solving problems in a different manner. For example, in basketball, observing if an opponent's left or right foot is forward while defending provides crucial information on how to attack them. Playing against opponents is essential in developing the ability to pick up such information.
In this episode I talk to Associate Professor at Queensland University of Technology Ian Renshaw.
Ian is one of the leading figures in the constraints led approach to coaching and speaks to us about how he brings this to life as both a coach and on himself with his journey teaching himself how to play golf using these methods
Ian has some exciting projects coming up including a website (still under construction) called "the constraints collective" and they can already be found on Twitter and also a project called "Swing like Tiger", I'm pretty excited about both of these things,
