The civil rights movement led by Dr. King focused on freedom from segregation, oppression, seeking harmony with the white community, and integration. Stokely Carmichael, however, shifted the focus towards Black Power, emphasizing self-reliance and unity within the Black community rather than seeking unity with white Americans. This ideological difference led to Carmichael's conflict with King, who believed in non-violence and integration as opposed to violence and separatism.
