If a person is going through life and cannot identify their passions or what I call their islands of competence, we're going to have a problem. If you can capture those four, even greater or lesser degree, that person is going to be much more resilient. And so I say, when I go into any organization or school, that's what I'm looking at. Does this organization, does leadership, does any person coming in? Do they feel welcome and connected?"
Dr. Robert Brooks is a leading expert on resilience. He is a Doctor of Psychology, serves on the faculty of Harvard Medical School, and has authored or co-authored over 19 books. During the past 40 years, Dr. Brooks has also lectured nationally and internationally to thousands of parents, educators, mental health professionals, and business leaders on topics pertaining to motivation, resilience, family relationships, the qualities of effective leaders and executives, and balancing our personal and professional lives.
