CEO Brian Armstrong of Coinbase stated that the company will not be distracted by employee activism that is not related to the company mission, which received some blowback. Armstrong believes that it is destructive to have employees pushing the company to solve societal issues not related to the company. He realigned the company and made an exit package available to employees not on board with the company's direction, resulting in 5% of employees leaving. While disagreement on work is allowed, Armstrong wants the workplace to be a refuge from division on unrelated issues and for employees to focus on the company mission.
