The Importance of Privacy in the Development of High-Risk Systems
There is discussion in Europe about whether it ought to be, whether law to cover general purpose or only high risk so far, and I think it will remain that it's high risk in the law./nBut you've got a certain category of use case of your system that is going to be subject to greater scrutiny and that greater scrutiny is going to cover three distinct phases of the lifecycle. The first will be the input stage. So looking at doing an assessment of your data, looking at it from the privacy perspective to ensure that you're using personal information where applicable in accordance with privacy laws that you're not using personal information to train your systems without having given sufficient notice to the individual and without having in place the appropriate legal framework to use that information. So that's number one. And then you move into the actual development of those systems and we see that there's quite a bit of emphasis in international laws and different jurisdictions around what kind of verification and validation of your system you need to do./nIf it's a high risk, if it falls within that high risk or high impact category. So you're going to be needing to do that in any event.
