NOTE

Silicon Valley Operating Principle

Trust and safety in the workplace are important concepts, but they don't necessarily go hand in hand. Trust is crucial, but it doesn't guarantee safety. Even if I trust you, it doesn't mean I feel safe. In fact, I'm a high anxiety person. So the idea of psychological safety as a company principle may not be valid. We all face risks and competition, and being paranoid can actually be a better approach. The idea of making people feel psychologically safe may not be the right principle for success. CEOs can be fired, stocks can plummet, and competition can be fierce.
