Up until about the 1950s, there was no confusion about what death meant. But technological breakthroughs were starting to confuse the issue here. These scientists were being confronted with something that ethicists like Bob grapple with a lot.
Death used to be fairly self-evident, but new technologies have forced us to ask: When is someone actually dead? And now, new research is raising a further question: Could death someday be reversible?
