Accountability for Political Figures

Political figures around the world, including presidents and prime ministers, have faced prosecution for corruption in countries like France, Israel, Italy, Germany, and Portugal. Nicolas Sarkozy and Benjamin Netanyahu are notable examples of leaders who have been indicted or convicted for corruption. Contrary to the perception of being 'banana republic stuff', holding corrupt political leaders accountable is not uncommon globally. In fact, the US stands out as an outlier for its leniency in prosecuting such figures compared to other nations. Additionally, in many of these countries, the indicted leaders are not typically reinstated into power after facing legal consequences.
