Active Management: A Double-Edged Sword

The emergence of a new asset class necessitates increased active management, raising doubts about its ability to consistently outperform benchmark indices. Research by Professor M. Patybaraman from IIT Madras indicates that since 2006, only about half of actively managed mutual funds succeeded in surpassing index performance more than 70% of the time, challenging the expectations of investors.
