The people we surround ourselves with have a significant impact on our habits. We may need to distance ourselves from individuals who reinforce negative habits in order to change. We can still love them but redefine the relationship. Our friends shape our reading habits, diet, vacation choices, spending patterns, and mindset about money. If we want to be successful and change our habits, we may have to distance ourselves from certain people for a period of time and find new individuals to be around. While we cannot blame others for every bad habit we have, we should strive to be around people we want to emulate. Avoiding individuals with a victim mindset or cynicism can lead to positive changes in our lives.
