Sovereign Immunity Doctrine in International Law
The doctrine of sovereign immunity limits the ability of courts to play the role of a sovereign state in pursuing another sovereign state's assets and issuing judgments against them. However, in cases where one sovereign state pursues another, sovereign immunity does not apply. Under international law, one sovereign state is not immune from legal action by another, allowing the seizure of assets and property.
