NOTE

Using Simple Language in Communication and Research

In psychology, using simple language is important for effective communication with the lay public. Unlike technical fields like physics or biology, psychology uses everyday terms such as consciousness, perception, and emotion that are easily understood. Good behavioral research focuses on describing observed behavior without the need for labels. Labels are only necessary if one aims to communicate with a broader audience. While terms like 'intelligent' as an adjective are acceptable, turning them into nouns can be problematic. Intelligence is not a person, place, or thing but merely a word used to describe behaviors observed in different contexts by different people.
