Ukrainian special forces are suspected to be fighting in Sudan alongside the National Army to disrupt the flow of gold from facilities operated by Russia's Wagner mercenary group. Russia allegedly used Sudan's gold to evade Western financial sanctions, including paying Iran with gold for drones used in the war in Ukraine.

Voting begins today in an election that has already been won – all the opposition politicians are dead, in prison or in exile. Vladimir Putin wants to give the illusion of legitimacy.
