The feminine function is essential for the rigidity and existence of the masculine function, symbolized by the lingam and yoni imagery. The lingam represents masculinity, which only takes form and existence when surrounded, encased, and enveloped by the yoni, representing femininity. This imagery symbolizes living inside the womb, which is likened to the universe as Mother Divine. In this concept, the universe is the Mother Divine, where diversity and oneness coexist, and where the idea of encircling and creating something different from oneself emerges. Mother Divine is the creator, constructor, governor, and manifestation of Shiva, representing how consciousness conceives and embodies the universe as a whole.
