NOTE

Challenge Assumptions: Truth vs. Opinion

Postmodernism promotes moral relativism, viewing ethics and religion as private opinions rather than objective truths. This view divides knowledge into 'lower story' truths, like math and science that can be publicly debated, and 'upper story' truths, which encompass personal beliefs and values that lack universality in discourse. In contrast, it is argued that core religious and moral beliefs should be accessible as public truths subject to evidence and debate. The deconstruction movement often dismisses core doctrines, labeling traditional beliefs as harmful or toxic without acknowledging their potential objective validity. Thus, understanding what is genuinely harmful requires first establishing a base of objective truth.
