Why “Innovation” Was a Crime in the 16th Century

Johnathan Bi

NOTE

**We fetish “innovation”, but it’s not beneficial in the social realm. **

Our modern society has an exaggerated love for innovation, particularly in technology, and this attitude is misplaced in social and religious domains. This misplaced technological optimism leads us to challenge norms, seek constant change, and pursue perpetual revolution in the social world. We often view social progress solely in terms of utility and strive for continuous growth and change without considering potential negative consequences. Contrary to this approach, social justice should be seen as a balance around an optimal point, not as an endless pursuit of more change and innovation.
