Embracing a prevailing school of thought as absolute truth can lead to a plateau in progress, with diminishing returns over time. While productivity may be high initially, it is crucial to recognize that these assumptions are approximate at best. Over time, as the founding generation passes on, the awareness of the initial assumptions and the cyclical nature of progress diminishes. Attempts to introduce alternative schools of thought are often met with resistance, as the prevailing belief system is deeply ingrained. Instead of dismissing new ideas, it's essential to acknowledge the limitations of the current school of thought and be open to exploring new perspectives when the existing one starts to wane.
Bret talks to Phil Harper on his recent trip to the UK. They discuss the process of truth seeking and how our present dark age affects it.
