An ideal is something positive worth striving for, but also makes one acutely aware of their lack in certain dimensions./nThe presence of an ideal can have a bullying element as it highlights one's insufficiencies./nThe one-dimensionality of an ideal can be unfair as it ignores other dimensions along which one may be doing fine./nThe idea of erecting hierarchies of values may exclude people from that hierarchy, which postmodernists find oppressive and wrong.
