Psychologists define burnout as emotional exhaustion, feeling drained by work and having nothing left to give. However, the speaker realized that despite experiencing some symptoms of burnout, such as not sleeping well and feeling off mentally, they did not fit the typical burnout definition. They were still energetic, working out regularly, and felt proud of their work, which led them to reconsider their diagnosis and seek a different explanation for their feelings.
