Saddam's Early Life

Saddam Hussein was born in 1937 in a poor area of Iraq, near Tikrit. From a young age, he became involved in Arab nationalist efforts to reclaim Iraq from colonial powers. He participated in assassination attempts and gained a reputation as a thug, reportedly committing his first murder as a teenager.
