The Inventor's Mindset: Understanding Human Nature and the Quest for Automation
In order to benefit mankind, engineers must understand the principles of science as well as the needs and aspirations of the people they serve. This is exemplified by Bush, who was not only an inventor but also a successful manager of research teams. He found pleasure in tinkering and pursued his grandest intuitions, even developing tools for thought. In the 1930s, Bush envisioned the automation of thinking, foreshadowing the use of personal computers today.
