The Tinder Swipe UI

The iconic swipe feature on Tinder, which allows users to swipe right or left to indicate their interest in potential matches, was not part of the original design. Initially, the app had a simple checkmark for approval and a red X for rejection. The swipe feature was added last minute by John, the iOS developer, who was playing with a deck of cards during coding. This alteration, made almost accidentally, became a defining and iconic aspect of the Tinder user interface.
