Behavior modification alone is not enough for lasting change. Simply addressing the symptoms of a problem without tackling the root cause can lead to ineffective results. Surface-level efforts like setting new routines or making commitments may not be sustainable if the underlying beliefs and motivations remain unchanged. True change requires a shift in mindset and a deep understanding of oneself. Motivation and willpower are limited resources that can easily be depleted. To create lasting change, it's important to address the underlying beliefs that drive behavior and reshape one's identity.
