NOTE

Mineral Prospectivity in New Zealand

We're asking the incoming ministers to abandon the policy of no new mines on conservation land and the stewardship land review. We believe it's unnecessary as the steps are already in place to care for the land. However, we support keeping pristine national parks untouched. We're urging the new government to develop a critical mineral strategy, similar to other countries, to ensure a stable supply for our electric future. We're also eager to see the release of the minerals and energy strategy with a critical minerals list. Mining requires significant capital, often sourced from outside of New Zealand.
