The Rest Is History

NOTE

Manifest Destiny and Westward Expansion

The concept of a permanent Indian frontier was initially considered for areas west of a chain of forts extending from Minnesota to Louisiana, but this idea collapsed due to the desire to build trails, such as the Bozeman Trail, and the discovery of gold in California. This led to mass migration, with people using stage coaches, wagon trains, and later railroads to traverse the Great Plains. The Plains became a focal point for settlement and conflict, characterized by constant warfare and battles for hunting grounds, with the culture of the native peoples being influenced by the introduction of horses.
