Large language models (LLMs) are becoming commoditized, where models like LLM3 can be nearly as effective as GPT4 but with significantly lower inference costs. For general use cases, smaller proprietary models are increasingly preferred, especially for narrow tasks that do not require the power of large models. Deploying large models for tasks that could be handled by smaller, domain-specific models is akin to using excessive power for a simple task, ultimately making the latter more efficient and possibly even more accurate in providing answers.
