The Historical Relationship between Psychology, AI, and Cognitive Development
Psychology and computer science have a long history of influencing each other, even before the terms AI and cognitive science existed. Turing's original paper on computing machinery and intelligence proposed building a child machine to pass the Turing test, highlighting the connection between cognitive development and AI. This trend continued in the 60s when AI and cognitive development were in conversation. These fields have always had something to say to one another and have been moving closer together in recent years.
