The conventional approach to high blood pressure blames sodium, but recent research shows it's not the amount of salt, but the salt concentration that affects blood pressure. Eating salty foods increases salt concentration in the blood, leading to a rise in blood pressure. However, if the salt concentration is blocked, blood pressure remains stable. This insight is important not only for blood pressure but also for obesity. High salt intake triggers a rise in blood pressure through the brain and liver.
