APO A4 and APO A5 are two other important APO A's that have significant roles in lipoprotein metabolism. APO A4's function is still unclear, while APO A5 stimulates lipoprotein lipase and plays a crucial role in the metabolism of triglyceride rich lipoproteins. Lack of APO A5 leads to high triglyceride levels and increases the risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease.

Dan Rader is a Professor at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, where he conducts translational research on lipoprotein metabolism and atherosclerosis with a particular focus on the function of high-density lipoproteins (HDLs).
