Melatonin as a Sleep Aid: Is it Helpful for Healthy Adults?

In the quest for better sleep, many turn to melatonin supplementation. However, research suggests that melatonin may not be particularly effective in improving sleep for healthy adults. A recent meta-analysis found that melatonin only increases total sleep time by an average of 3.9 minutes and sleep efficiency by 2.2%. In other words, the results are weak sauce. While individual experiences may vary, melatonin doesn't seem to offer significant benefits for the average adult. It's important to note that this is not a definitive conclusion, and further research is needed.
