The Bill of Rights and Civil War Amendment articulate the inherent and inalienable rights of mankind while also placing limits and checks on the power of individuals over others due to the imperfection and tendency of mankind to oppress. These structures, although not perfect, have inherent value and are currently facing challenges from both the left and the right. It is important to stand in the gap for this structure and recognize its consistency with a Christian ethic. Christian engagement in politics should focus on taking care of the political household rather than trying to get their way in politics.
This episode drops on the three year anniversary of the Capitol insurrection of January 6 2021. The event revealed the dangerous nature of Trumpism and political violence. We should be worried about what happened, even today. But the event also presented an opportunity: it contained an invitation from God for all of us, one that applies to our role in our own corner of the world, even today. In this Good Faith Classic (from also two years ago exactly), Curtis and “founding friend” David French unpack this invitation for everyone.
