Murder investigation and sleight of hand

A citizen confronts a rookie investigator in a murder investigation, attempting to hide evidence using sleight of hand. The investigator insists on protocol, only allowing the citizen to reveal items from their pockets. Eventually, the citizen successfully hides a cross, and the investigator retrieves a notebook that lists 'get the names' as the first step of the protocol.
