Dr bartichek says it wasn't the chocolate that did the trick, it was the sugar. Smell comes from your nose down through what's called a retro nasal space into your mouth. And when you swallow those volatles, the odors from the pudding are forced up the etronasal space and into your nose from the back. We're all hard wired to like sugar.
