Distinguishing Economic and Demonic Happiness in Philosophy
In philosophy, there is a distinction between hedonic happiness and eudaimonic happiness. Hedonic happiness is derived from pleasurable experiences, while eudaimonic happiness comes from pursuing meaningful goals. Ideally, we want both. However, there is a challenge when it comes to defining truth and meaning in different realities. Despite the differences, some aspects of meaning can carry over. For example, winning a virtual football tournament may be considered true within that virtual reality. Ultimately, the meaning we find in different realities can vary, but certain forms of meaning can transcend between them.
