Collective narcissism leads to hypersensitivity to threat, perceiving threat to the in-group everywhere and developing conspiracy theories to justify hostility. People high in collective narcissism engage in a vicious circle of threat and aggressive retaliation, exaggerating the perception of threat to the in-group image and responding more aggressively to threats against the in-group.
