Reading a lot often leads to the desire to remember and recall the information, as we tend to forget much of what we have read. Simply highlighting or making marginal notes in books doesn't efficiently aid in recalling the information when needed. Thus, having a system in place to capture and retain the main ideas enables connections between new and old ideas, prompting critical evaluation of the new information. This system fosters a healthy balance between the excitement of new ideas and the conservatism of revisiting and evaluating previously encountered thoughts, leading to a more comprehensive understanding of the connections between old and new ideas.
