Scholars have noticed deliberate parallels between the books of Luke and Acts. Luke compares the journeys of Paul and Jesus subtly. Jesus' ministry in Galilee is paralleled by Paul's missionary journeys. Both face opposition and are misunderstood when heading to Jerusalem. There are numerous references to their journeys to Jerusalem. Both are initially received well and both go to the temple. They both undergo four trials and are found innocent. Both Jesus and Paul take bread and give thanks. A Roman centurion recognizes the righteousness of both Paul and Jesus.

Dr. Scott Woodward explores Paul being the Lord’s messenger as the people become members of the new covenant and how the new congregations breach the various cultural and personal differences to become one people.
