Transition from Joy to Peace as Definition of Happiness
Research shows that young people often define happiness as joy and excitement, while older individuals tend to view happiness as peace or calm. This shift may be attributed to a combination of grace and exhaustion. With age, individuals may tire of constantly striving for new ideas and achievements which provide temporary joy. They begin to realize that peace is more enduring as it doesn't wear off, unlike joy which is transient.
