Richard Phillips on Teaching Genesis
Help Me Teach The Bible
The Gospel-Centered and Trinitarian Nature of Genesis
Being gospel-centered does not exclude the first and third persons of the godhead. The book of Genesis emphasizes God the Father as the great star and the savior. The gospel in Genesis is the gospel of God the Father, while Christ also appears in Genesis in various ways, often not given enough credit. Genesis 12 shows the sovereign grace of God calling sinners like Abraham, which exemplifies the pure gospel. Genesis is a radically trinitarian book, emphasizing the grace of God for sinners and the plan for salvation through faith in Christ.
