Expanding Universe and the Big Bang Theory
The concept of an expanding universe was established through the observation of the brightness of supernovae, which revealed the distance and speed at which objects were moving away from us. This led to the deduction that our universe is expanding, with everything moving away from each other like raisins in a cake that is expanding in an oven. This expansion is not about the universe moving away from us but the entirety of space expanding. The data, especially from observing different types of stars with the Hubble Space Telescope, further supported the expanding universe theory.
