Hierarchical Predictive Processing in the Brain
The brain functions through a hierarchical predictive processing system where low-level models near the data detect basic features like edges and corners, which then feed into higher layers processing higher-level features. These models are driven by priors generating expected outcomes, and information flows up in the form of prediction errors, while the brain only generates what it thinks it is seeing based on these errors, without the actual data flowing upward.
