The Seriousness of Icons in Evolution
Evolutionary perspective emphasizes the importance of interface in keeping individuals alive. Icons on a computer desktop serve as metaphors, not literal representations. The function of the desktop is to conceal the underlying complexity, not to reveal it. Similarly, in evolution, icons are symbolic pointers to important concepts that need to be taken seriously, although not interpreted literally, for individuals to thrive in the game of life.
