Laurie Santos knows from studies that talking to strangers makes people happier.
Although she often doesn't feel like talking to people, she inevitably feels better when she does.
On a recent flight, she felt like checking her email but knew she should brighten a frustrated, disabled person's day.
After chatting with them, she felt a little brighter and felt she made the flight a little better for him.
