Different Categories of Sanctions and Their Impacts
Sanctions can be imposed by governments or private actors and in the case of Russia, a significant number of sanctions have been imposed by both. It is crucial to differentiate between government-imposed sanctions and those enforced by the private sector. Russia has faced a variety of sanctions including macroeconomic sanctions from Western governments and a coalition, trade sanctions, and sanctions on Central Bank reserves. These sanctions have led to significant economic repercussions such as triggering macroeconomic panic and a quick exit by some private actors from maintaining any links with Russia.
