NOTE

Regularity of Sleep & Mortality Risk

A study using the UK BioBank database with over 60,000 individuals revealed that those with the most regular sleep had a 39% reduced risk of mortality compared to highly irregular sleepers. Regular sleepers also had a 35% lower risk of cancer mortality and a 60% lower risk of cardiovascular mortality. While the quantity of sleep (7-9 hours) was predictive of all-cause mortality, the regularity of sleep had almost twice the impact on predictability than duration. The study highlighted the significant importance of regular sleep in reducing mortality risk, emphasizing the need to prioritize regularity over sleep duration.
