Faith Matters

NOTE

**Allowing ourselves to be vulnerable **

Assimilating the reality of death into life serves to affirm both life and love. In caregiving roles, the goal should shift from fixing the person in pain to simply bearing witness to their suffering. This approach requires embracing discomfort and accepting that one cannot alleviate another's pain. The tendency to avoid pain in others stems from a recognition of our own vulnerability; proximity to someone else's suffering amplifies the fear of similar experiences happening to ourselves. Ultimately, acknowledging such vulnerabilities can deepen connections and enhance understanding of the human experience.
