ReThinking

NOTE

The Language of Objection in Philosophy and Inquiry

In academic settings, people often use less adversarial language to raise objections, usually through wording like "I have a worry" or "I'm confused about this part" instead of saying "I object."/nWhen someone raises a question, it's usually to determine the veracity of what's being said. Unless they can give a reason why what's been said is untrue, they haven't really asked a question./nPeople who raise objections are part of the challenge network, which holds up a mirror to reveal blind spots and help people grow. This can be more confrontational but ultimately more helpful than simple support.
