Let's dive into large language models and the ecosystem surrounding them. There's a misconception that the model is the application, but in reality, there's a whole ecosystem of tooling. Andreessen Horowitz created an emerging LLM app stack to illustrate this. It provides a framework to understand the different components. Check out the picture in our show notes!

Recently a16z released a diagram showing the “Emerging Architectures for LLM Applications.” In this episode, we expand on things covered in that diagram to a more general mental model for the new AI app stack. We cover a variety of things from model “middleware” for caching and control to app orchestration.
