Ep. 26 – Relevance of Eastern Philosophy

Alan Watts Being in the Way

NOTE

The Danger of Idolizing a Fixed Notion of God

The belief in a harsh and authoritarian God has led people to question the existence of God altogether. This fixed notion of God has resulted in people rejecting the idea of a judgmental deity constantly watching over them. The concept of an all-knowing and judgmental God has not significantly improved people's behavior throughout history. This idolatrous view of God, created through imagination and conception, has been criticized by various religions for being dangerous. Approaching the Godhead with a negative perspective, as seen in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Taoism, is essential to prevent idolatry and foster a deeper understanding of spirituality.
